Awesomemod story progression?
Hi.
So recently I've been thinking in maybe, and just maybe playing with awesomemod. However, the story progresssion option confuses me: what does it do? I know it replaces EA's, but how is it exactly? I can't find it explained anywhere.

So, my questions for today: if you play with awesomemod, do you use it? Are there any big changes from the game's? Or do you turn it off to play with twallan's?

Heart RE: Awesomemod story progression?
I used to just have Awesomemod (and used its story mode as well), but since I played so very little (and mostly built/decorated) I can't really tell you what it did exactly! Dunno I mostly had it to fix some annoyances (the smiling in CAS, disabling the cd check etc!).

Now I have both Awesomemod (with story mode disabled) and a bunch of Twallan's mods (including Story Progression), because I'm too much of a control freak with my new town!

I think it depends on how you play, if you just focus on your main family and don't really care about the rest of the town, Awesomemod should be enough, but if you also want to stop your other sims from doing unwanted things, you're probably better off with Twallan's mods (or both, like me).

RE: Awesomemod story progression?
I don't have Awesomemod since I don't care to download anything from that site but I do have pretty much all of Twallan's mods and they are brilliant. Playing the game without them really isn't as good. And they aren't core mods either so, like Martine says, you could reasonably have both! And I don't know if it's Twallan that does this, but his mods have these texts which make the news a bit more entertaining. Instead of "John Smith and Jane Jones got married." it's something like "There was not a dry eye in the audience at John Smith and Jane Jones' recent wedding ceremony." Plus, his mods are easily customisable and if you have a lot of them, you can do a lot to make the game exactly what you want.

RE: Awesomemod story progression?
Nod I am currently using twallan's story progression, but it keeps looking so big, with all those options. I just go through its options and put everything on false, but I feel like I never tweak enough the settings. That's why I was wondering about Awesome's story progression. Because I guess it doesn't come with an option to simply disable it and don't let anything happen...
And...I hate the Spanish translation of twallan's. When you talk in posts about how find a certain option, I can't follow well because in my game it has another name.

I know - I love this too! Nod

And I was a bit scared of all the options at first as well, but you will figure it out eventually. Just keep the 'interactions' FAQ of each mod bookmarked so you can easily look things up! And lots of people on this forum use it, so you can always ask if you don't understand something.

RE: Awesomemod story progression?
Hmm Yeah that sounds confusing :\

Most, but not all of the options, are fairly intuitive. I don't know what kind of game you play, but my options I have a lot set to default and then some customised. If you play a town where you want the townies to do their own thing, most of the defaults should be what you already want. Then if you want things like no new sims moving in or harder jobs, you can just modify those. I've found it pretty intuitive, but I then don't know what the translations are like.

Changing the options doesn't take a super long time, also you can multi select them. Say you want to change 5 things to false, you don't have to press the checkmark button, you just click them all first. At least I think so. Pardon It's pretty cool that you can do that.

Hope you find something that works. :)

RE: Awesomemod story progression?
What I want to do it's like anyone doing anything, so I can play with one family, then with another, and come back to the first and find everything as I left. That is, no promotions, no new children, etc. Then, it's pretty easy to put almost everything on false. But with the ones that have got numbers to enter and all that I'm pretty much lost. Blush I think I'll try again with the FAQ near...

Edit: Didn't see you, Ninoo! Gonna read...

RE: Awesomemod story progression?
Oh, I think 0 disables or sets to unlimited most things. Like if you don't want your sims buying cars, just set it to 0. But if you don't want your game changing to keep the population at a limit (I think default is 150?) then set it to 0 for infinity. I'm not sure, but 0 should work at most things if you don't want it interfering too much but something to stop the EA story progression (so your male sims don't randomly have baby clones from nowhere. Roll )

RE: Awesomemod story progression?
And, now that we're talking about it... For my purpose of stopping EA's story progression I should have enough with just the base mod, true?
