TSD Rules and Procedures
RULES:

We want this to be a place where you can just hang out and enjoy your game and the folks that play it. However, there are a few things that we will insist upon:
  • Do not degrade or put down another member - "do unto others..."
  • Check your ego at the door - we don't need it.
  • Laugh with us - it's good for the soul! Laugh at yourself - it's even more fun!
  • Brush slights and mis-interpretations off - you're bigger than that, and you know it.
  • Have a problem with someone? Complaint? Contact an Admin (WebbyMom, Dee, Lemonjelly, Jenba or Phyre). DO NOT flog someone in public, flame in a panic, or otherwise go off the deep end.
  • Need a thread moved? Can't figure out where to post? You can contact an Admin too!
  • Please use the shoutbox for it's intended purpose of a quick communication and a giggle. It really isn't there for prolonged discussions or conversations that should be taking place in the privacy of Private Messaging or Independent Messaging or for asking questions that might take an entire thread to answer. :)
  • Please don't use text message sort of writing. We'd like to understand you right away without having to decode your posts ;)
  • About double-posting - you know, we don't really care when it's a simple text comment. Sometimes it makes sense to edit your previous post, sometimes it doesn't. Just use your common sense. There's a different set of guidelines for picture posting, though. See below.
  • Do not use sparkly or flashy colours in your posts and signatures. Sure, it looks fancy and cool to you, but the members like having their eyesight still intact when they log out. Emphasis is great - - - "chaos" is.... well, not that very great. ;)
  • Do Not Hotlink Pictures - this is taken very seriously. If you don't know what this means, see here.
  • Please ensure that all signature images are within 800 by 100 pixels in size. And actually, the less distracting the signature, the better. ;)
  • Please post in the proper sections. If there isn't a proper section, feel free to PM a Mod with questions/suggestions and we'll point you in the right direction.
  • Enjoy this place. This is a pretty general Sims 3 forum, without a huge focus other than the fact we all play and like The Sims 3. We also tend to love a great sense of humour and finding the "funny" in our games. Feel free to dig right in and join the party! We encourage participation and love it when folks make a positive impact here :)
  • Affiliations - If you would like to swap site buttons with TSD, please PM a mod or admin and we'll arrange it. Our button is attached to this post (below).
  • And just so you know, there is no limit to smiley usage. "Abuse and Use!", that's our motto! (Mostly the "abuse" bit... Spit ) Use the many we have available here, or use the ones from some smiley board somewhere or your image hosting account. We're particularly partial to the Kolobok variety, but hey - different strokes for different folks Cool
  • We are adamant that you please refrain from posting links or referring to *free* paysite custom content/*free* store content on these forums. We are not here to encourage piracy. We are here to share our games with each other. ;)
  • Absolutely NO paysite bashing - paying for content is an individual's choice - this site does not wish to participate in the politics of pay versus free.
  • And last, but not least: The management reserves the right to remove any material deemed offensive by said management. This includes user name, avatar, sig graphic, bio information, post/thread content, etc.

About Pictures and Posts:
  • Pictures should be a maximum of 850px wide. The forum WILL re-size your pictures for you ( Hey Baby ), but they'll have an ugly yellow notice band at the top of them. You've been fore-warned about "the ugly" - it's in your hands now. ;)
  • Please limit the number of images in one post to 10. The main reason for this is that it allows the forum to run more efficiently when sticking to 10 images, as it takes less time to load than an infinite number. It also keeps the boredom threshold to a minimum. Giggle
  • If you have a story to tell and it's going to take more than ten images to do it, organise it into chapters of ten images per post and give us all a chance to read your chapter and comment before posting another ten images. The same applies in every forum where images involved - albums, game chatter, general chatter, etc.
  • If you have more than 10 pictures of one subject, you could link to an album elsewhere with more pictures (like Photobucket or ImageShack).
  • We would appreciate it if you could leave a space (i.e., a minimum of two lines, returns, or enters) between your pictures in the forums so that it's easier to browse through with our eyes.
  • Regarding files/urls that hold mulitple images: We do not wish to stifle creativity in any way, or to make the forum look uniform and boring. So this is a guideline to acceptability and unacceptability...
    • This kind of thing is OK:

    • and so is this...

    • ... but anything stretching those limits risks being moderated and/or deleted.
  • Please keep any images of Sim nudity tasteful. If you're unsure of what that actually means, play it safe and don't post them at all.

RE: TSD Rules and Procedures
Procedures:

1) Should you choose to register and then start posting in the forums - your very first post has to be approved by a member of the admin team. This helps us to prevent SPAM and other untowards stuff from turning up on the forum.

So please don't worry if your first post gets some kind of *No permissions* notification. There's nearly always someone here who can *allow* your first post (and therefore the rest), so please be patient and don't panic. ;)

2) For your information, all accounts that remain inactive or unactivated two weeks after registration, are deleted. We figure if you haven't returned within two weeks, that you're unlikely to... but we're not always right (go figure!!!!).... so, should you be unable to access a previously registered account, it may be that we have deleted it and you are most welcome to re-register with us :)

Accounts that ARE active (ie. lurker accounts), but where there are no posts, are NOT deleted. We understand how difficult it can be to jump into conversations that have already being going on for months (sometimes only minutes... we talk A LOT) and all lurkers are potential friends ;)
