I gotta say, I wasn't excited for aliens until now. They are SO. AWESOME! Yahoo

I'm hoping there's an option to turn them off though, and I hope it's a save-specific option instead of a global option. I don't want my town to be completely without alien invasions, but I definitely don't want them to be as frequent as they will undoubtedly be (I mean, it is EA after all).

Speaking of EA, what was the deal with the LiveStream? Why were they calling it "Maxis Live?" Did EA buy out Maxis? Is Maxis actually sticking their glorious fingers back into the Sims franchise? I feel like such an out of the loop simmer. Face Palm

EA bought Maxis...I don't know that they ever actually didn't own them quietly behind the scenes, but they had removed them from all Sims 3 projects. They did, however, give Maxis SimCity 2013 to grow into something. It seems with their financial issues, though, they're re-condensing groups into projects that have been making profit.

Dumb Seasons being a whole dumb month away.

On the other hand...I might actually still play between now and then.

And maybe, just maybe, I might continue to play some of the SAME sims...

The outerwear stuff is pretty nice looking from what I've seen so far.

I have been following some tweets and here is the list of the lots that the festival park will displace.
They will have the lot saved to the bin when you replace with Festival lot, however, if you have customized any of those lots, it's suggested that prior to installing seasons, you save it to your own library or do not allow seasons to place the lot.

Sunset Valley = Central Park
Twinbrook = Town Center
Bridgeport = Bridgeport Acres
Appaloosa Plains = The Lexington (home)
Starlight Shores = Verde Park
Moonlight Falls = Eerie Park
Riverview = "All the Rave" Warehouse
Barnacle Bay = Crowe's Nest Campgrounds
Hidden Springs = Beryl Lane Picnic Spot
Lunar Lakes = Memories of Riverview
Lucky Palms = Civic Center
Sunlit Tides = Starfish Sands Playground

They've always owned Maxis. Will Wright sold it to them in 1998 or 1999 because EA had the means to publish The Sims and Maxis itself did not.

Will Wright took most former Maxis people with him when he went on to develop Spore.

They've now revived the Maxis name to put it on Sim City 2013. Not sure whether they're going to actually put it back on The Sims 3, too.
Maxis is just another brand name that EA owns. The original Maxis people are long gone, and now different EA people work at the division called Maxis.

In 12+ years, the 'separate identity' of Maxis is long gone. There's just the logo that EA owns and now sticks on the boxes to make the long-term fans feel better about forking over their money.

Yea, I knew that they had been the finances behind Maxis since the beginning and that Maxis wasn't anything other than a generic EA house anymore and that Will Wright and his people were no longer part of any of it, sadly. Thanks for the specifics, though, I get rather confused by who is who in video games as this is pretty typical. Buy out this label, kick out the people, they become someone else, then the original company buys them, absorbs some, kicks them out again, the cycles that go through are pretty insane.

I'm still trying to hold back my excitement for Seasons haha.
Sitting here, trying not to go haywire and bounce out of my seat lol.
